My Christmas home tour 2020 at Houzewize
Hello friends, are you ready for a quick tour of my Christmas home tour 2020? I have been so busy getting ready for Christmas that I haven’t had the time to catch up with my holiday posts. It has been non stop shopping, decorating, wrapping gifts, baking and getting the house ready. Does anyone else get overwhelmed this time of the year or is it just me? With all the hustle and bustle, it really is the most wonderful time of the year!
let’s get started…
Staircase banister garland
As you open my front door, you’re immediately greeted by my staircase. So to add the Christmas vibe to the first thing you see, I wrapped the bannister with large wispy garland. To create the look I used branches from a real cedar garland I purchased from the market and added it to my faux garland. The garland already was embellished with pine cones and different cedar branches, so it didn’t take much to add the fullness. However, I wanted to create unique look to capture our guests attention. You can see how I put together this wispy garland in my previous post.
Off to see the nativity… I bought this remarkably beautiful nativity set at Costco a few years back. We had been looking for the right nativity for a long time and the detail on this nativity was outstanding. It looks so beautiful displayed on our entrance table next to the staircase.

Our Christmas village
As we move onto my dining room area, you can see our little Christmas village displayed on the buffet.
The buffet is one of my favorite places to decorate. We create this beautiful scene of a Christmas village, with children laughing and enjoying skating in the ice skating rink. The church lit up inviting people to come in.. The little town square with a quaint train chugging through. Each year we try to add a new accessory to the village, this year I added two trees , a snowman and santa claus. I had wanted to add a few more shops and cottages, but it was slim pickings at the market this holiday season.
The quaint glow and the music that plays throughout the village creates such a nostalgic feeling…
Flocked Christmas tree
I have been wanting to add an extra tree to our holiday decor for a while. One day my husband surprised me with this beautiful flocked tree from Home Depot. It is so perfect and I found the ideal spot for it in my dining room. You can see the post on decorating my new flocked tree here. I usually decorate for Christmas with neutral tones but this year I was inspired to change things up. I was influenced by a red buffalo plaid ribbon I purchased at Michael’s. Using red ornaments and accents throughout made it feel so festive.
My little Santa with is naughty and nice list…
As we move onto the living room, I decorated the mantle with garland and baubles using the same technique as the staircase. Adding the fresh branches to the mantle gave it such fullness, I love it.
I added twinkling lights cascading down on the garland…
I was so tempted to leave the tree without any ornaments and just white lights. It looks so simple and magical…
O Christmas tree…
However, adorning the tree with ornaments and ribbon was the piece de resistance!
I used mostly round ornaments, in red, gold, silver, white with few hints of dark blue.
My little elf admiring the tree…
I splashed few red accessories around the room to carry the red throughout.
Simple design of these small Christmas trees and accessories on the coffee table creates a beautiful silhouette.
We popped this adorable little Santa next to the tree…
Love the nighttime glow…
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my Christmas home tour for 2020!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New year!
