One Room Challenge – Bathroom renovation-Week 7

Bathroom renovation – One Room Challenge

Do you want to take a glimpse of our bathroom renovation One Room Challenge? See where we are up to on the 7th week of our 8 Week journey.

Hello friends, what can I say? Things are not moving along quite like I would have liked to have in our bathroom renovation. I seriously doubt I will be revealing a finished product next week for the end of this challenge.

In case you haven’t heard, One Room Challenge is a bi-annual interior design event that was created by Linda from Calling it Home. She created this event to inspire and challenge interior designers, and design enthusiasts to complete a room makeover. Also, this event is media sponsored by Apartment Therapy.

Every Wednesday 20 designers and guest participants share their process and the progress of their space. There are 8 weeks packed with sources, inspirations, DIY projects, and the highs and lows of transforming a space.

Bathroom renovation and it’s reoccurring setbacks

So, let me brief a synopsis of my journey with this bathroom renovation. It has been one setback after another.

If you missed any of the previous One Room Challenge posts, you can catch up here: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, No post for Week 5, Week 6

The setback started from the beginning when I decided to get all new fixtures for the bathroom. I had purchased fixtures a few years ago for this bathroom, but my vision for this bathroom changed. So did the fixtures.

Then we had to wait for the products to arrive in this slow shipping climate. But once they arrived, I loved all of the new fixtures.

Then we had to wait for our tile contractor who couldn’t squeeze us in. My husband is too busy with work and couldn’t do it himself.

More changes…

Finally, I had someone come to start the tiling and he was able to put up the accent tile behind the vanity. Then he went on to install the tile on the floor and noticed that all the tiles had a slight bow in the middle of the tile.

You can see now why I would just want to throw in the towel at this point!

Nevertheless, we have to complete this bathroom. I went to our local tile store and picked out new tiles and they will be arriving in two days.

This time around I wanted a darker floor tile. I like this black tile with gray veining but no one else in my family agreed.

So went on to another option… We didn’t care much for the grasscloth look of the tile, even though I love grasscloth wallpaper.

Then I found this tile that has a beautiful shimmer to it, everyone liked this one the best.

I purchased it and put a rush on the order and we will be receiving it tomorrow.

Here’s a look at the accent wall tile that’ll sit behind the vanity. The gray marble tile on the wall will pick up on the gray Carrera marble tile on the vanity top nicely.

Hopefully all the tile will arrive on time and there’ll be no other hiccups along the way.
