Decorating ideas for your outdoor living

Do you want simple decorating ideas for your front porch? Here are 9 easy decorating ideas to create an inviting summer front porch.

Hello friends, the seasons for outdoor living have arrived! The days are longer which means spring is here and summer is quickly approaching.

We haven’t had the best weather for a while, and the idea of setting up my front porch wasn’t at the top of my list of things to do. Finally, we had a break in the weather which inspired me to get the front porch ready for spring and summer.

Since we are already into mid-spring the porch decor will be good for summer also.

The front porch is the first impression your family and guest see when visiting your home. So why not make it beautiful and inviting.

We sit outside almost every day during spring, summer, and early fall. I love the cozy vibes on our front porch.

A place to sit and read a book, watch the kids play outside, and chat with neighbors.

In the evening we love to sit on the porch to relax after a day’s work as well. We are blessed to live by the ocean, we can hear the waves crashing and the cool breeze coming off the sea. I am immediately de-stressed when I hear the music from the ocean.

Our front porch is small, but I like to get the most out of this small space by adding all the necessary and decorative items.

Here are 9 simple decorating ideas to create a cozy front porch

1 – Seating

2 – Lighting

3 – Plants

4 – Pillows

5 – Side tables

6 – Decorative accessories

7 – Doormat

8 – Wreath for the front door

9 – Planters

First, add seating to fit the size of your space.

Then build around that.

If you are lucky enough to have a large porch, the space can even be divided into separate zones for relaxing and dining.

You can get the most out of this prime outdoor space by utilizing the space with intentional furniture arrangements.

Make the best of a small front porch

That is not the case with us, our porch is very small but thankful to have one.

I wanted to accommodate seating for at least 4 people on our small front porch.

We bought this outdoor patio set a few years ago, it fits perfectly in this small area.

All the sources are linked for our front porch throughout the post or you can see them all at the end of this post. Some items may not be available but there are similar alternatives to achieve the look.

Decorative accessories

Adding a few decorative accessories as you would in your living room would make the porch feel like an extension of your interior.

We found this side table with an outlet, perfect for charging phones or plugging in the lamp. I make sure to cover the table outlet when it’s going to rain to be safe.

Cozy up the front porch even more with the beautiful nighttime glow of candlelight placed inside a lantern.

By adding this garden stool, we added another seating if needed or use as a table when not in use as a seat. It also adds another beautiful textural element to the space.

My son got the DIY bug and created this awesome planter/mailbox. We originally used it as our house number sign and planter, but we needed a mailbox and this worked out perfectly.
