Painting done-Week 3 One Room Challenge

Hi there, welcome back to the third week of one room challenge, I’m so happy you’re here! I’m thrilled to be participating in this event to transform my daughter’s bedroom from a teen bedroom to an adult bedroom while she’s away in college.

In case you’re new here, the One Room Challenge is an 8-week online event that happens every spring and fall, where interior designers, and home bloggers makeover a space of their choosing, while sharing their process of transforming the space. At the end of the 8 weeks, everyone will showcase their beautiful spaces, it is really fabulous!

If this is your first time here, Welcome! You can catch up with Week 1 and Week 2 here.

This is my third time joining and I’m so grateful for this event because I actually finish a project in my home in a timely fashion without procrastinating, there’s no time for that!

We have made a lot of progress this week so let’s jump in!

Last week we took down the pallet walls and the old wood trim around the bay window. All the little nail holes on the wall had to be filled in and sanded and prepped for paint.

We painted the room, except for the wall that’s going to get the wallpaper.

Paint choice

My daughter loves the ocean and the paint colors and the wallpaper we chose are inspired by the ocean. We extracted the colors from the wallpaper we chose to give it a nice flow. Benjamin Moore’s Soft spruce teal color is used for the accent wall and for the rest of the walls we used Benjamin Moore Jack frost.

I’ll be adding an accent wall behind her bed to create a visual effect and give dimension to the wall. I love the wave of accent walls I have been seeing over the years, it really adds so much interest to a wall. There are so many designs that could be a possibility, and narrowing the right look is challenging.

But I think I have finally decided on the right accent wall for this room. I can’t wait to show you!

I still haven’t picked out the lighting for this room. Sometimes when there are too many choices, it’s overwhelming. Below are some of my choices, and hope to narrow it down and order it soon. My daughter will have the final say in the choice, to a point haha!

The other conundrum is the dresser… I haven’t seen anything that I am thrilled with for the space and budget, so I don’t know if I should revamp the dresses that she already has and wait to find the right one for the space or just get something as close to what we want. I’ll have to decide on that soon and come up with a design plan if we decided to keep the dresser.

Here’s the plan for the entire orc eight-week process.

To-do list

Take down accent pallet wall

Remove window molding

Remove existing baseboard

Install a 6-inch baseboard around the room

Install new accent wood wall

Replace blinds

Order new Chandelier

Order a new dresser or revamp the old

Purchase new bench

New bed

Change hardware for free-standing closet with gold ones

Hope you follow along to see the progress each week.
