One Room Challenge Spring 2021- Week 5 – Feature wall
Hello friends! Welcome to week 5 of One Room Challenge Spring 2021. Only 3 more weeks to go and still have so much to do. Let me give you a little recap in case this is your first time here. I have joined this fun and creative event, One Room Challenge in partnership with Better Homes and Gardens, to share the process of making over my son Kyle’s bedroom. He is a young adult so he is going to get a room that suits his adult personality and likes. If you missed any of my previous posts, you can catch up here…
Feature Wall
I finally finished the feature wall! Hallelujah! It took long enough! This wall took so much out of me, I was ready to throw in the paintbrush until the look I wanted started to appear. I did four different layers of paint techniques. In hindsight, I could have achieved this look with just two layers of paint, the base, and the top coat. But, as they say, I took the scenic route. I feel like that is the only thing I did for 4 weeks. But, I am really happy with the way it came out.
We were finally able to put together the floating media cabinet and install it. The colors of the wall and the cabinet meld beautifully together. Starting to look like a trendy Manhattan apartment. Okay, maybe just the wall, the rest of the room is a mess. The remaining walls will be painted with Baby Seal Black by Benjamin Moore to create the feel of the dark and moody room.
Going forward I hope to pick up momentum and complete sanding and painting the rest of the walls. Also, hope to show you the wood installation by next week’s post.
