Fall Decorations for your front porch
Fall decorating your front porch for a great fall curb appeal.
The temperature outside is getting cooler and the leaves are starting to change into the beautiful colors of reds and oranges and yellows. It’s time to get out the comfy blankets and sweaters, fall has arrived! This means it’s time for fall decorations for your front porch to add some great curb appeal.
I love to decorate my front porch for the fall and I get so inspired to change things up each year. This year I added more saturated colors with purples and deep orange.
Here is my fall porch decor from last year…
The sides of the steps are adorned with a variety of pumpkins and mums.
Decorating with fall lanterns will add the perfect ambiance to your front steps. The great thing about lanterns, you can add a battery-operated candle inside and turn them on and off with a remote. You can also fill them with gourds, pumpkins, and leaves to create a beautiful autumn display. Which I plan to do in the tall lantern.
Mums the word
I usually get my mums from Costco and this year was no different. They tend to have the best mums each year.
This year I changed it up with these vibrant purple mums. Love the contrast in color with the pumpkins.
Before I displayed the mums I gave them a nice water bath for about a half-hour.
I noticed this year the mums were extra showy and I have a feeling that is the reason. Soaking the mums will help to keep them vibrant and last longer.
I filled up a Home Depot bucket and halfway with water, then placed the mums in the bucket of water for half-hour.
After their hydrating bath, they were displayed on the porch. After a few days, the buds opened up into spectacular blooms.
Colorful leaves dance off the trees and land on the ground to add to the feel of autumn.
Replant your mums
Most mums are perennials and they will come back every year. So after you are done with your display, you can plant them in the ground. Plant them in a sunny location and keep them well-watered. You will get show-stopping mums each year. Here’s one that was planted a few years ago, it is so striking!
Outdoor fall decorations would not be complete without a variety of pumpkins.
Our little girl pup is very happy with our fall decorations on our front porch. In the spirit of Halloween, my husband hung a skeleton on the front door instead of a fall wreath. Also, Kreepy Kathryn is there to greet our guests before they enter our house.
The beautiful mums and pumpkins, with the accents of lanterns and accessories, create a cozy autumn feel.
