Dresser refresh-Week 7 ORC
Refreshing an old dresser-Week 7 ORC
It’s crunch time! This week has passed by so fast and we are coming to the end of this challenge. I kind of fell behind with projects for the room last week because of my daughter’s graduation. But I work best under pressure so let’s go! I started giving a refresh to an old dresser this week.

I have been working on my daughter’s dresser for the past few days. We got this dresser when my daughter was a baby which is perfect for the baby’s room but not for a young adult.
So I’m ordering this dresser from Crate and Barrel , but won’t arrive till August so I decided to give a refresh to the existing dresser till the new one arrives.
Refreshing an old dresser is a great way to give it a new lease on life.
Here’s the old dresser…
Here are some general steps I used to refresh this dresser
I started by removing the wood appliqués from the front of the dresser and the drawer pulls. The appliques came off easier than I anticipated I was happy about that.
I sanded down the entire dresser so the paint can easily adhere to it.
Using fine-grit sandpaper to gently sand and smooth out any imperfections.
Then I wiped down the surfaces with a damp cloth to make sure it’s clean and free of dust.
My thoughts were to paint it a basic white and call it a day because the new dresser will be here in a few months. But basic is not always my thing.
So this is the point I am at now… Painted basic white dresser.
I will be working on finishing up the dresser today and revealing the final look at the end of the One Room Challenge.
I’ll sprinkle some magic with some details
I cut off the scalloped edges from the bottom of the dresser.
I’ll add some extra interest to the dresser with some pole wrap I had left over from another project.
Lastly, paint, seal, and add the new hardware.
