Modern classic bathroom remodel

Modern classic bathroom remodels, where traditional and modern styles meet and work beautifully together to create a timeless design.

Hi friends, I am finally getting around to showing you the completed Modern classic bathroom remodel we started last year. It is a space where timeless elegance meets modern-day functionality.

This post may contain affiliate links where I may earn a small commission on your purchase. This will not affect or increase your purchase in anyway.

I am so thrilled to be finally finished and love the way it turned out.

Last spring I joined the One Room Challenge hoping to keep me on task and motivated to tackle our long overdue bathroom remodel.

Due to shipping delays and product changes, the renovation took much longer than expected. You can see the original design plan and where we left off in the bathroom.

I am excited to show you all the details for our Modern Classic bathroom remodel.

First things first…

Bathroom demo

The old bathroom was not functional, it was dirty beyond cleaning, and mildewy from the time we purchased our house.

To keep it safe and healthy we decided to demo the bathroom to its bare beams and leave it till we were ready to renovate.

And we left it this way for a very, very, very long time…

One Room Challenge Spring 2022

Renovating this bathroom was put on hold for so long that we simply overlooked the unused space and adjusted to using one bathroom for the four of us. Nevertheless, four people trying to get ready using one bathroom were on the verge of a cataclysmic event, lol!

So we moved forward to create a beautifully functional bathroom in this space.

Modern Classic Bathroom Remodel Design Plan

A few minor changes were made to the final design of the bathroom. I love the look of pole wrap and was going to cover the vanity with it. But after the herringbone tile was installed I felt that it was too much of a distraction and opted to scratch the idea of pole wrap.

Bathroom remodel

I can barely remember the original bathroom layout because it had been so long since it was demoed and cleared. It was so bad that it was something I didn’t want to remember, haha.

After we demoed the bathroom, we decided to take two feet from my daughter’s bedroom which is adjacent to the bathroom to make the bathroom’s footprint a bit larger.

This bathroom got expanded from a 6′ X 7′ to a 6′ X 9′ bathroom, it was not much but every inch counts in a small room. My daughter was not very happy about that but she has a large room, and losing two feet was not a major loss.

There was a small single-sink vanity in the old bathroom, since we took a couple of feet from the adjacent room we were able to fit a 6ft. double-sink vanity.

A nice deep 5-1/2 ft. soaking tub was installed. We installed cement boards and waterproofed the shower wall.

A mixture of classic and modern tiles and fixtures

Our first purchase was the herringbone tile and I designed a bathroom around the tile. I love the look of herringbone and had to have it somewhere in my house. This tile’s unwavering beauty becomes the bathroom’s star giving it a serious luxurious vibe.

The key was to balance the old and the new, letting classic design principles guide modern living.

These timeless herringbone styles are not only sophisticated but also offer the flexibility to withstand the ever-evolving trends over the decades.

The perfect place for this beautiful tile was behind the vanity to create an elegant accent wall.
