Hi friends, a couple of weeks ago while attending a wedding in Dallas, my husband surprised me with a little side trip to Waco, Texas to tour the Hotel 1928. To see our favorite duo, Chip and Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper, beautifully designed and renovated this hotel.

Do you watch the Fixer Upper show? I have been hooked on it from the beginning! I’ve been following Chip and Joanna’s incredible journey of designing and renovating homes in Waco for so long. Even my husband loves to watch the shows, and he normally shies away from any design shows I watch. ????

So he decided to surprise me with a trip to the Hotel 1928 and the Magnolia Markets at the Silos. What a great guy!

However, We weren’t able to get a room at the hotel because of this last-minute epiphany we had to see the hotel. But to get a glimpse of the glamorous hotel is enough for now.

I never imagined I’d get the chance to visit the Hotel 1928 and the Magnolia Markets at the Silos! So this serendipitous trip was such a treat, to say the least.

I’ve watched Chip and Joanna’s design and renovation of this incredible hotel and have been in awe of the transformation. To see it in person is like icing on the cake!????

So let me share my experience with you…

Let’s take a step back in time

From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were transported to a bygone era. The Moorish detail of the original building was preserved beautifully.

The lobby exudes old-world charm with its beautiful chandeliers, massive front desk, and rows of original painted beams. Sepia-toned photographs that tell tales of a time long gone.

There are multiple lounge areas for you to relax and skim through pages of classical books.

The vintage vibes permeate throughout this historic building creating such a relaxed cozy atmosphere.

The attention to detail in the decor is impressive… It’s like they’ve managed to freeze a slice of the past and intertwine it with modern amenities, creating an unforgettable experience.

The love of books is very apparent, walls of vintage books are displayed throughout for people to enjoy.

An homage paid to famous Texas author Larry McMurtry displaying his typewriter and his books.

Each area of the hotel is uniquely decorated with comfy leather chairs and sofas that you can just sink right into. Truly creating a feeling of home.

My favorite piece of artwork…

Two grand staircases lead down to another sitting area where you can cozy up by the fire and play a game of checkers.

Every inch of the space was beautifully designed with comfort in mind.

By the time we arrived at the rooftop, the sun was just starting to set and it was a perfect backdrop to sit and enjoy the views.

The rooftop is a tranquil oasis, I would’ve imagined if I had stayed at the hotel the rooftop would be a perfect place for unwinding in the evening sipping a mocktail under the stars.????

Beautiful restaurant, beautiful hotel. All the decor and detail are amazing as one would expect.

Even though we weren’t able to get the full experience of staying at the hotel, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to have had the opportunity to tour the Hotel 1928. This hotel offers a perfect blend of nostalgia, comfort, and hospitality.

Next stop, the Magnolia Markets at the Silos!
